What Can We Do?

We don’t need new social service agencies, we need to connect kids with good foster and adoptive families through the agencies and systems we already have.  Many people would like to help, but do not know how.  KIDS BELONG is about churches coming together to talk about how families can get involved.  We, the Church, need to simply talk about it!  If we talk about it in a coordinated way, we will be more effective than talking about it individually.

So here is our plan:

  1. Use a Sunday to challenge your congregation to consider how they can respond to the great need for foster families in our community.
    • Preach a sermon on adoption, share a foster/adopt video, or take some time in your gathering to share a testimony from a foster or adoptive family in your church community.
  2. As a next step, invite your people to get more information at a Kids Belong event. We can help you host!
    • At the Kids Belong event, your families will hear from foster families, adoptive families, children in foster care.  We will hear their stories and try to communicate what fostering and adoption are and how to get involved.
    • We will also hear about ways to help supports kids and foster/adoptive families. Having a support community is so important!

Can you set aside some time to challenge your church to respond to the challenge?
