We are really excited to be able to host the 2021 Back To School Event back in person this year! Not only that, but we are hosting in 2 locations! We are committed to reaching even more families and supporting even more kids this year.
Last year’s event was not the way we wanted to host it, but COVID forced us to change plans and do a drive through event in 2020. We were still excited to be able to serve hundreds of kids with backpacks, school supplies, and even restaurant gift cards! It was a fun event, it just wasn’t quite as much fun as in person food, raffle prizes, games, inflatables, and shopping for school supplies and clothes. All of which we are bringing back this year!
And did we mention we are doing it all twice?
With this year’s new closet location in Grand Haven, we are excited to offer the same great event in two different locations. Families will be able to register for whichever event is on the day or location that is most convenient. We are planning lots of fun for families, along with giveaways and prizes, and of course backpacks and school supplies to send their kids back to school right.
There is something special that happens at this event, when we gather foster/adopt families together in one place. Families get to let their guard down a little bit, they are among friends and others who understand them and their life. The kids get to spend time and play with other kids from homes just like theirs, kids who have maybe been removed from their birth homes and placed into foster care. Events like these are one way we can let these kids and families know that we are behind them and we support them.
Kids Belong is currently seeking sponsorships to help make these events a success. Sponsors could be businesses or individuals who just want to help support local foster and adoptive families here in West Michigan.
